Abstract The geologic condition of Zhengyang Tunnel on Chengdu-Huaihua Railway Line is complex, with gaps developing of least cave, fluid bowl and joint, and much water gushing. Therefore water-proof plates should be laid. The result of smoothwall blasting directly influences on the quality of liner concrete. A brief introduction to the smoothwall blasting technique for Zhengyang Tunnel is given and some experience summed up in this paper.
