Abstract Huhehaote-Zhungeer Railway Line is located at west central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with total length of 117 km for newly built track. Landform type is complex and variable in the region, with serious soil erosion by water and wind and weak ecologic environment. This paper analyses the problem about loss of soil and water caused by building the line, explores the issue of soil and water conversation, and proposes the main work and measures for soil and water conversation in design and construction.
