Research methods: According to the requests of abutment on function ， rigidity and strength ， this paper confirms the type of abutment ， calculates and analyzes the mechanical behavior of abutment in crucial load combination. And this paper also checks the conclusion by general FEM software ANSYS.
Research results: Aimed at the simply supported box girder and the combined box girder of China passenger dedicated railway line，the rectangular hollow abutment and the T figure hollow abutment have been designed respectively.
Research Conclusions: The rectangular hollow abutment and the T figure hollow abutment meet the requirement of passenger dedicated railway line on conformation，load ， durability and function. The setting of inspection passage from subgrade to cone to abutment to box girder is simple，reasonable and convenient.
