Abstract Research purposes: The fitting precision in the non － linear interval of magnetization curve can be improved to ensure the analysis precision of the over － voltage of ferro － resonance if the fitting exponential function is selected in the analysis and calculation of the ferro － resonance． It can provide the theoretic basis for analysis of the mechanism of generating ferro － resonance in traction electric network and finding the measures for eliminating the over － voltage of ferro － resonance．

Research conclusions: The results of numerical calculation and analysis with the magnetization theory for the ferro －resonance show the saturated exciting induction exists in the iron － core induction． The saturated exciting induction is the main cause for generating the ferro － resonance and the frequency of the ferro － resonance is decided by the saturated exciting induction and the circuit capacitance． The over － voltage of ferro － resonance is producted when the harmonic voltage excites the circuit consisiting of the saturated induction and the capacitance．
