Analyses of the Embedment Depth of Underground Continuous Wall |

Abstract Research purposes: Taking excavation of the foundation pit for the underground two-storey station of Shanghai rail transit as an example, the analysis of the relation between reliability and embedment depth of exterior- protected structure is made with the reliable design theory for the purpose of determining the suitable embedment depth of exterior-protected structure.
Research conclusions: The lateral horizontal displacement of underground continuous wall is not reduced endlessly with deepening the embedment depth, so underground continuous wall will play little role in control of the horizontal displacement of foundation pit when its embedment reaches at a certain depth. The embedment depth is determined by the analysis method of ”damage probability",which not only can guarantee the stability of foundation pit, but also can reduce the construction cost.
