Abstract：Research purposes ：The large - sized unfavorable geology is extremely developing in the stream valley zone and there are many controlled factors of influencing route selection in this zone, such as the technical standard and investment. In this paper, based on the route selection in Wujiang gorge for Chongqing - Huaihua Railway, the summary and research are done on the experience in geological route selection in stream valley zone for the purpose of providing the reference to the similar works.
Research conclusions ： Initially the route shall be selected on the left and right bank of stream. The line route should move inward to keep away from the unfavorable geology if possible, and if impossible, the line route can pass the unfavorable geology with good geological survey and suitable engineering measures. In this case, the route shall be selected to pass the safe are of karst zone in accordance with the karat developing regularity and elevation of underground river.
