Abstract：Research purposes: The common method for railway engineering survey is to calculate corresponding angle and distance from home mirror spot to back—sight point according to the known mileage and external distance，but in the real survey and recheck，it is difficult to calculate the corresponding mileage and external distance to the track，while knowing the angle and distance．So it is necessary to do the research on the reverse procedure for railway engineering survey to easily calculate the corresponding mileage and external distance．
Research conclusions: Through researching the reverse procedure for engineering survey，the reverse procedure for railway engineering survey is worked out with the fx一4800P(4859P)calculator．The introduction is given to the applicable method of the reverse procedure and its applications in the measurement and lofting of the border pile and completion measurement．The calculation example shows this reverse procedure is reliable with perfect applicable value．
