Abstract：Based on several experiences and lessons for tunnels with strongly pressured surrounding rock, the construction method of supporting at first and excavating behind has been proposed. Taking Jiazhuqing Tunnel as example, the lesson on excavating at first and supporting behind arc summarized, and the new conception for adopting construction method of supporting at first and excavating behind in order to restrain the development of plastic regions has been expounded. Furthermore, the design of extra-pre-supports arc illustrated in detail. It is emphasized twice that the top pressured regions and the lateral pressured regions should be considered respectively. And, the reasons which should be considered respectively by the principle of Karstna Formula arc explained also.
