Abstract：The construction practices of Qinling Tunnel on Xi'an-Ankang Railway Lines make the synthetic technical level of tunnel construction in China up to a new stage. The paper introduces em?phatically the general situation for constructing Qinling Tunnel by the drilling and blasting method. Several understandings concerned with tunnel construction by drilling and blasting method arc ex?pounded. And the prospect of the drilling and blasting method for constructing extra-long tunnel in China has been proposed as well.
