Abstract：Based on the descriptions on present situation of social economy and railway transport in Southwest China， the particular analyses on railway traffic reqirements in Southwest China are put forward. The developing thinking concerned with the railway networks in Southwest China has been proposed also in this paper. It is aimed at to strengthen the southwest-northwest and southwest-southeast railway passages，to develop the railway networks with the surrounding international countries， as well as to improve the inner structure of the railway networks in Southwest China by constructing Dian-Zang Railway，Long-Bai Railway，E-Yi Railway，etc，as soon as possible.
