Abstract:There are two haul types o f high speed rai lw ay in the w orld, i. e. the electrified t ractio n based o n w heel-rai l rela tion a nd the Mag lev Sy stem based o n mag netic levi tation technolgy. The May lev System has tw o mode, i. e. the superco nductio ng suspensio n system based o n elect rody namic repulsion used in Japa n and the electromagnetic suspension system based on elect ro dy namic at tractio n used in Germa ny. Thi s paper i llust rates the adva ntag e and applicatio n area of the Maglev System and describes emphatically the Mag lev Test Track buil t at Emsla nd in Germany and the planned Berlin-Hambury Maglev Railw ay which w ill be accomplished in 2005. The autho r ex plains also tha t a t present i t is not suitable to adopt this haul type on Bei jing-Sha nghai high speed rai lw ay.
