Abstract:The communica tion cav ern o f LPG engineering pro ject in Shanto u City is a tunnel w ith the width 7. 2 m, heigh t 5. 7 m, cross-sectio n nea rly 40m2 and hav ing a dow n g radient of 13. 6% . Af ter blasting during the excav atio n o f tunnel reaching 245 m leng th at Februa ry 9 of 1998, the g ushing w ater occurred suddenly at the rig ht side o n the bot tom o f the tunnel. The capaci ty of g ushing w ater w as rather high , nearly 1500 m3 /d through the o bserv atio n and test. The paper int roduces mainly the w hole procedure of the f lood protection engineering t reatment by g routing in detail, a nd therefore, provides the ex perience as a reference fo r the simi lar engineering pro ject.
