Abstract：The Qinling ex t ra-long tunnel wi th a to tal leng th of 18, 950m is the longest tunnel in China. It w as const ructed by drilling and blasting method using the parallel heading a t No. Ⅱ line wi th sing le-end tunnelling. The v entilation tech nique is a dif ficul t problem in the const ructio n of the ex t ra-long tunnel. The paper expounds in detail the experiences in co nst ruction of thi s tunnel co ncerned wi th the selectio n of hig h pressure and larg e capaci ty v enti latiors w ith high st reng th and large diameter v entilating duct s, as w ell as enhancing the manag ement of the co nst ructio n v entila tion. These ex priences solv e the problem of v etilation through long di stance. Achiev ement s on developing ful ly the effect o f tunnelling machine, shortening the w o rking period of const ruction and economy of inv estment , etc, are o btained. The sugg gestions fo r improv ement furthermo re are also proposed.
