Abstract：The paper describes the superiorities of the TBM technique. The main problems oc- cured in the applications of the TBM technique among the railway tunnels of our country are pointed out and are discussed in detail,such as the problem concerned with the selection of the tunnel boring machines,the analysis on the circular crosssection of the tunnel,etc. Finally,several essentials，which should be paid attention to, are proposed for the application of the TBM tech?nique during the preparing stage of the construction of the Qinling tunnels.
