Abstract：Along the Si’an-Ankang Railway Line, the fault F] at the northern foot of the Qin- ling Mountain Range is a big fault with several regions having geological activities. The property, scale and engineering geological conditions of this fault play a controlling role in the railway developing schemes at the northern mountain slopes. The author participated in a special investigation of fault Fi，and a large amount of technical data were obtained. Based on the thorough investigation of the engineering characteristics of fault Fj，the experiences of the geological route selection works in this fault zone are summarized, and the important role of its engineering geological sub-zone is emphasized.
