Abstract Based on the authors personal experiences， a detailed description of hydrogeological work on Qinling extra-long tunnel from its subnnitial survey stage to the construction stage has been presented here. Meanwhile，the importance of synthetic hydrogeological work in the tunnel project has been emphasized also in the article.
