1 Review and Prospects for Railway Design Concept

Research purposes: The systematic review and further analysis are made for the bases,its own characteristics,programs,experiences and lessons of the different railway design concepts introduced in the different construction periods of China since 1949 and many countries in the world. Based on the new railway construction concept issued by MOR,the basic intension and relative thoughts on railway design concepts are presented for nowadays and future.
Research conclusions: The new railway construction concept of “putting people first ,strengthening the fundamental and weakening the trivial ,optimizing system and eyeing on the future" is not only the new railway construction concept, but also the basic concept for present railway design,and its intension has far-reaching significance. We shall remain those good things in our railway design concept and pay more attention to the things those are necessary to be improved in our concept. In the new period of time,we shall learn the advanced design concepts from foreign countries and continuously renew our design concept according to the requirement of the time.

6 Review,Present Situation Prospects for Survey Technology for Railway Construction

Research purposes: The systematic review and analysis are made for the development experience of survey technology for railway construction since 1949,the situations and problems are described in the aspects of engineering survey,aerial survey , physical measurement , probing and in site measurement of survey technology for railway construction,and the development future is prospected systematically and comprehensively for the aspects mentioned above of survey technology for railway construction.
Research Conclusions: The surveying devices will become lighter and integration with higher accuracy,more functions, easier operation,and digitisation , modularisation and automation to collect and process the data. It is the general development trend of the survey technology for railway construction to establish construction survey and design data bank and improve the applicable mode of “Integration and Intellectualization” for railway survey and design in order to meet the requirements for more and more construction of high一speed railway and passenger dedicated railway line crossing and sea.

13 Overall Comments on Application of Photographic Surveying and Remote Sensing in Chinese Railway Construction

Research purposes: In combination with the development and present situation of photographic surveying and remote sensing,the overall comments are made on the application of the technologies of photographic surveying and remote sensing in all aspects of railway construction,and also the analysis is made for the concrete situations and their applicable potentiality of rapid raising technologies of radar interfering surveying,high-resolution satellite remote sensing and high-spectrum remote sensing.
Research Conclusions: There are three development trends for photographic surveying and remote sensing being applied in Chinese railway construction. The first one is there will be three new breakthroughs in the aspects of space resolution, spectrum resolution and time resolution,through which the remote sensing network with low-resolution , medium- resolution and high-resolution being relatively complemented each other will be formed in combination with high orbit, medium orbit and low orbit , with the aid of large-sized , medium-sized and small-sized satellites. The second one is photographic surveying and remote sensing along with“3G”technology will be applied widely in Chinese railway construction. The third one is the railway management information service system will be formed by adopting remote sensing technology along with virtual and realistic techniques. In this way , the system can serve the public vividly and easily with computer.

20 Application and Development of Positive Photography Image Pattern Technology in Railway Survey

Research purposes: The analysis is made for the real situation of positive photograph image applied in railway construction and its development prospects.
Research Conclusions: Fabrication of aerial or satellite digital positive photography image pattern for railway by large-scale has the features of short period,becoming effective rapidly , saving cost , lowering the requirement for needing special technical devices and increasing the reality of information. The good economic and social benefits can be created if the digital positive photography image pattern is used for railway plan,railway design , requisition of land for railway , railway track maintenance and management of land. The vivid,rich and high geographic accurate information necessary for design can be provided for entire design of new railway line with all kinds of scaled positive photography image pattern made from high-resolution satellite image or aerophotographic image. If the Digital Elevation Model and positive photography image pattern are coincided each other along with all models of railway equipments,the 3-dimensional photography image of designed area can be obtained,besides,the real 3-dimensional landscape image can be realized if a flying route is added over the designed route.

27 Review and Thoughts on Alignment Design of Railway Line

Research purposes: Alignment design of railway line is a complicated systematic engineering with involving matters of all aspects,requiring high technicality and having significance to the integral work of entire construction. In this paper the review is made for the development experience of the design means for alignment of railway line from making design manually by using drawing board to making design with using CAD System instead of drawing board to draw plane drawing,vertical section drawing,the ideas are expressed on the issues of the progress,innovation and development direction of design technology for railway line,and the key technical problems to be solved and research projects are pointed out for design of railway line with continuous improvement and development of design standard of railway line.
Research Conclusions: It is necessary to make development of multidimensional design environment from 3-dimensonal design environment and make development of manually intelligent design from CAD. Establishing digital railway alignment experts system is a great innovation for the technology of railway alignment design. In this way,the production efficiency of railway alignment design can be much improved , the design time can be shortened and the design quality be improved.

32 Exploration and Practice of Construction of Qinghai-Tibet Railway in Permafrost Region

Research purposes: The railway between Golmud and Lhasa of Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the highest railway above sea level and longest railway crossing plateau permafrost regions with total length of 1 142 km. Therefore,lots of technical difficulties were met in course of construction of the railway because of bad environmental conditions,complex geological conditions and strict requirement of environment protection. In this paper the ideas are further expressed on how to solve the problem of construction of railway in permafrost region of high altitude and how to construct Qinghai-Tibet Railway into the first-class railway in the world from the aspects of characteristics of permafrost region on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,main engineering problems,the work of tackling key scientific and technical problems,the measures taken for the construction and the main stage achievements made for the construction,and the issues necessary to be further researched are also put forward.
Research conclusions: Based on the systematic analysis and research,the heat stability , ice content , distribution of unfavourable frozen soil and its change regularity of the permafrost region in which the railway line crosses are found out which can provide basic guarantee for tackling difficult problems of construction of railway in permafrost region. The design idea and treatment principle of“lowering temperature actively,cooling subgrade and protection of frozen soil" are presented to the subgrade engineering,and the concrete type of engineering structure is also offered.

41 Overall Comments on Track Technology of High-speed Railway

Research purposes: The track of high-speed railway requires higher safety,reliability and regularity than that of ordinary railway, so there are much higher requirements of mechanics property , applicable property and integral property of structure for the all components of track than that of ordinary track in order to satisfy the requirements mentioned above of track structure. The purposes of this paper are to provide research achievements and applied experiences regarding to the track of high-speed railway at home and abroad so as to satisfy the needs of construction and development of high-speed railway in China.
Research Conclusions: The analysis and comments are made on the requirements and the technical indexes of rail sub-rail foundation,fittings and ballast bed for track structure of passenger dedicated railway line and high-speed railway in many countries,and the thinking is offered for development of the key track technologies.

55 Development and Prospects for Technology of Railway Bridge in China

Research purposes: Compared with highway bridge,railway bridge bears larger load and larger force of impact , so it requires higher standard for resistance to natural disaster , especially it requires certain vertical and lateral rigidity to its structure. The great achievements made in technology for construction of railway bridge in China over 100 years are expressed.
Research conclusions: China has researched and manufactured new durable materials for railway bridge,designed advanced and reasonable structures of railway bridge,and has advanced manufacturing and construction techniques and equipments. However it is necessary for China to make further scientific and technical research on some fields of it.

60 Exploration on Development Trend of Construction Machinery for Building Trade and Its Management Mode

Research purposes: Reform and opening to outside world create a new opportunity for Chinese building trade to develop rapidly. The same large-sized hi-tech construction project as that in the world appears one after another in China. Now the Chinese building trade becomes one of important backbone trades of national economy. How to manage the machinery well under the new situation and bring it into play in construction are the key links for guaranteeing construction quality,process and benefits and are also very important work to be done for construction enterprise, especially for state-owned large-sized construction enterprise.
Research Conclusions: These are the development trends of construction machinery for building trade that construction machinery has high construction efficiency and good operational performances,and can meet the requirement for environment protection. It is the requirement for strengthening the management work of construction machinery to adopt different management mode to the different construction projects,different sizes of enterprise and different organization functions.

65 Review and Prospects for Management Reform of Railway Construction

Research purposes: Nowadays China railway is in the period of centred development and construction. Not only is the construction scale unprecedented,but also is the technical standard of leaping. Now the management of railway construction faces deep challenges. How to integrate and adjust the management concepts,management systems and management methods becomes an urgent matter.
Research Conclusions: On the basis of review of the development experience of railway construction management in China,summary of successful experience and analysis of present management situation,the new management thinking is proposed , namely systematic management , legal management , humane management , intensive management and harmonious management , the great blueprint of management reform of railway construction in future is prospected,and the qualitative prediction is made for adjusting relation between government macro management and project micro management , improving trust system for railway construction market , promoting reform of financial leasing for railway, normalizing the relation between authority and responsibility of management department , and improving information management level for railway construction.

71 Comparative Analysis of the Financing Technology

Research purposes: This paper aims to supply reference to scientific decision-making of financing by making clean the thoughts of financing.
Research conclusions: By concluding and comparing analysis,this paper discovers that sustainable perfecting and developing of the market make the financing technologies appear the trends of diversification. Diversification of financing technologies has supplied many platforms to the leap-forward development of railway. It is not technological problem to railroading financing but a series of reasonable systems.

77 Reaffirming Basic Construction and Design Principle of Tunnel

Research purposes: A brief review is given for the rapid development of the technology for construction of tunnel in China over 50 years,it is proved how to promote the development of underground engineering under the conditions of tunnel construction entering into new historic stage of green construction and providing the second space for human being in the 21 th century,and the explorations are made on the principle,concept and key points necessary for improving and innovating the design and construction of tunnel.
Research Conclusions: The 23 basic principles for design and construction of mountain tunnel and 12 basic principles for design and construction of shallow-depth surface excavation tunnel are presented.

82 Exploration on Unified Describing Method for Rigidity of Large-span Railway Bridge

Research purposes: Based on the built bridges,this paper further studies the method describing the stiffness of railway bridges and dynamic characteristics of long-span prestressed concrete continuous beam(rigid structure) bridge and the train running performance,which would be helpful for improving the design quality of the bridge in question and developing even longer span for such kind of bridge. A uniform method was put forward describing the stiffness of railway bridges.
Research Conclusions: The description is given to the bridge rigidity with change rates (curvature)of lateral direction , vertical direction and angle of torsion at beam ends and other locations under the design load,and the reference limit value is derived for designing rigidity of railway large-span prestressed concrete continuous beam bridge(rigid structure).With this method not only can the rigidity of simple-supported bean be described easily and conform to the existing standards,but also can the rigidities be described easily for large-span bridge and special beam structure those are not covered by the existing standards. This method and its research achievement are hopeful for improving the research and design level of bridge rigidity and providing technical support for development of larger-span bridge.

Research purposes:“Code for Design on Retaining Structures of Railway Subgrade "(TB 100025-2006) has been issued on June 25,2006. In order to make designers of railway subgrade better understand and apply this code,it is necessary to generally introduce the revision principle and content of this code.
Research conclusions: “Code for Design on Retaining Structures of Railway Subgrade” in China is a special code for design on retaining structure of railway subgrade and stipulates the requirements for design,calculation and structure for the retaining structures,which is convenient to use. This code is very useful for design and technology improvement of railway retaining structure.

92 Analysis of Structure Design of Subgrade in Permafrost Region

Research purposes: The anti-frost heaving measures for the surface of subgrade in permafrost region and the anti-heat thawing measures for the subgrade of poor and rich ice frozen soil are put forward based on the analysis of the characteristics of surface frost heaving and bottom thawing of subgrade in permafrost region.
Research conclusions: It is believed that the requirements of structural function of the subgrade in permafrost region can be satisfied by making design of subgrade structure in accordance with the frozen condition of“enclosed system”,filling the active layer on the surface by unfrozen coarse materials and making design of the rest parts of the subgrade like ordinary subgrade,after the permafrost is treated in accordance with the geological conditions and ground temperature condition and upper limitation of permafrost is no longer lowering.

96 Problems in Track Maintenance of Existing Railway Line with Speed Raising to 200 km/h and Its Countermeasures

Research purposes: The total length of existing railway line with speed raising to 200 km/h will be expanded to 6003 km in China after six-round speed up. Compared with the low-speed line,200 km/h line requires more strict track maintenance,especially in China track maintenance should meet the requirements of existing line with speed raising to 200 km/h for mixed running of 200 km/h motor train set , 120 km/h freight train and double deck container train with axle load of 25 t. The analysis is made for the train-shaking phenomenon from the fourteen problems found in several experiments for six-round speed up,the rethink is made on the common problems existed in the areas of design,construction,acceptance and maintenance,and the issues necessary for being further studied are presented primarily for track maintenance in areas of inspection,operation,repeated inspection,safety , management and training , in order to make workers of track maintenance to fit in with high standard and requirements of 200 km/h for high regularity.
Research Conclusions: In order to meet the high requirement of 200 km/h line,the primary countermeasures are proposed for track maintenance,including inspection , operation , strengthening management of rail , track structure, inspection of long slope,large-sized machine maintenance,ballast management , solving the problems of curve,switch position and slope improperly , testing and deciding tolerance values of dynamic and static irregularity of 200 km/h line, strengthening person training , establishing all kinds of systems and regulations,guaranteeing skylight subgrade drainage and well doing the protection work of track. Also the issues necessary for being further studied are proposed,including introduction of large-sized machines and their match,research and development of inspectional and operational tools under static status,finding out the law of preventive grinding , finding out the law of subgrade settlement in order to guarantee the even of transition area,improving rigidity of bridge against disturbance deformation,taking overall measures in the areas of design,fabricating and construction for improving the regularity of switch structure and switch area and the vibration on bridge and bridge fatigue caused by 200 km/h train.
