Abstract：As to the heavy-loaded railway under the special load of 40t/axle, the liquid iron transport railway of Maanshan Iron Steel Co. is the second one at home following that of Baoshan Iron Steel Co. ? It is for the first time in our country that the oozy foundation of which has been successfully treated by the use of grading material such as blast furnace slag etc. A series of testing to the blast furnace slag，steel slag and cinder ash, added with the testing to the experimental section，has indicated that the physical and chemical property of the aforesaid material is stable, and the strength, abrasion, mechanical character after artifi?cial grading and the maximum dry volume density of which has fully met and overtopped the requirements of the design. Therefore it is a kind of high quality filling material for strength?ening subgrade bed. And the thickness of subgrade bed has been explored as well。
