Abstract：The insuf ficient buried depth of bridg e fo undation is the fi rst ca use of bridg e disasters due to f lood. This paper analyses the mechanisms of scouring s which creat the insufficient founda tion, propese the cont rol principles and analyses the adv antag es and shortages of the protected methods w hich contain the riprap.
