Abstract:High-speed railway asks for strict criteria of chemical composition, physical mechanics and size deviation of rails. It also asks for superior quality of welding joint of the CWR on extra long seamless tracks. The paper,based on great number of tests carried out for rail butt weld technology, studies the weldability of high-speed heavy type mould casting PD3 steel rail made by Panzhihua Steel Mill and the gang-mould casting PD3 60 kg/m steel rail made by AnshanSteel Mill. The study has improved the quality of the rails to meet with the technical requirement of the Standard of Rail Welding Industry and the Technical Specifications of 200 km/h Rails of MOR. The random check of welds in the production base shows that the quality of weld is reliable and the property is stable.
