Abstract:Research purposes:Model test is one of the most important methods for studying the problem of tunnel engineering, but the model test concerning the failure problem of the surrounding rock is very difficult. Through the study, the method of model tests on the progressive failure mechanism of the surrounding rock of tunnel is established for the purpose of providing favorable test foundation for studying the failure mechanism of the surrounding rock.
Research conclusions:Setting the surrounding rocks (grades IV,V) of road tunnel as the study objective, the rocks are simplified as homogeneous medium, puts forward the content, device and method of model tests on the progressive failure mechanism of the surrounding rock of tunnel are offered and the model material of the surrounding rock is confected. The rank of surrounding rock, the cross section and buried depth of tunnel are taken as the parameters for the model test. The test simulation of the failure process of the surrounding rock under gravitational stresses and unsupported condition is carried out successfully. Finally the model test results of the progressive failure process of the surrounding rock, the laws of the stress of surrounding rock and their displacement during the collapse are analyzed.
