Abstract:Research purposes : The introduction is given in this paper to the practice in design of prestressed concrete bridge in accordance with the IRC Code for the purpose of learning more about the IRC Code for bridge.
Research conclusions : The materials mechanics properties of the prestressed reinforcement and concrete stipulated in In?dian IRC Code are very closed to those stipulated in Chinese IRC Code and the Indian calculation of the pretress loss is almost the same as Chinese calculation. The security of pretressed structure is guaranteed by controlling stress and limi?tation bearing capacity. The requirement of stress stipulated in Indian IRC Code 18 is very high and tensile stress is not allowed, that is to say the partial prestressed concrete design is not allowed. In this case, the structure is more security, but it can not make the design flexible to satisfy the requirements of the different designs and environments because of limiting usage of partial stress.
