Abstract:Research purposes: Taking the design and construction of one side slope of the soft soil cutting on a new railway , the optimum scheme is presented through making discussion and Comparison of the merits and demerits of three schemes in the fields of economy, technology and construction for the purpose of providing reference to the similar project design and construction.
Research conclusions : Among the three schemes , the scheme of pile-sheet retaining wall is the best one for treating this side slope of soft soil cutting with the features of easier construction, the beautiful exterior structure, no limitation of the ground bearing capacity, less occupation of land and less disturbance to the undisturbed soil. Practice proved that the principle of money saving, security and practical application should be adopted to the treatment scheme according to the groundwater, distribution of soft soil, depth of cutting and ground bearing capacity.
