Abstract:A formula for calculating frequency of externally prestressed beam is derived from classical frequency equation with the influence of axial force and bending moment. In this paper, strengthening of six beams with simply supported ends by externally prestressing are experimentally investigated. The main influences and the practical feasibility about the formula discussed.
