Abstract:Research purposes: The railway in the section of SEBETA - ADAMA - MIESO of Ethiopian Railway is the first standard railway to be built in Ethiopia. It is difficult to conduct the engineering geological investigation for railway because there is a little study on the local basic geology and there is a little available information. Therefore,it is necessary to study a suitable set of engineering geological investigation methods for the Ethiopian railway to well know the engineering geological and gydrogeological conditions along the railway for providing the real and accurate geological basis information to the railway alignment,the engineering geology evaluation and the engineering design.
Research conclusions: By adopting the geological mapping and geophysical prospecting first and then conducting the specifically disposing drilling,in - situ tests and various laboratory tests,the investigation cost can be effectively reduced and the survey precision can be met. The in - site survey shows adopting various comprehensive engineering geological investigation is available for the Ethiopian Railway Project.
