Test of Lateral Vibration of Light Pier Bridge and Study of Reinforcement

Abstract:Research purposes: After train speed-up,majority of transverse vibration amplitude of light pier bridges exceed allowance value. The mismatching problem exits between light pier and beam markedly,which influences the safety of train running badly. In order to learn the cause for large lateral vibration amplitude and find out the reasonable reinforcing methods,test of lateral vibration of light pier bridge and study of reinforcement were done.
Research methods: Taking a light pier bridge as a test object,transverse coupled vibration of vehicle-bridge detection was done on site and the analysis was made. Moreover, two reinforcing methods were proposed and the reinforced effect was analyzed.
Research results: The transverse vibration amplitude of T beam of tested bridge basically met the requirements of criterion. But the transverse amplitude on the top of light pier exceeded allowance much.
Research conclusions: The main causes for large lateral transverse vibration amplitude of pier are that the piers' lateral rigidity is too low and large lateral transverse vibration amplitude on the pier's top. The lateral rigidity of light pier could be increased effectively and greatly and lateral transverse vibration amplitude of light pier could be controlled by adopting two reinforcing methods proposed in this paper that the sectional shear force is added between distyle pier posts or the connection is added by two rows of lateral stiffness section steel and expansive concrete is grouted.
