Abstract：The present situation and existing problems of railway transport passage from Southwest to South China are analyzed. The necessity，opportunity and meanings of constructing such railway passage are discussed also in this paper. Furthermore，from the viewpoints of the investment，the necessity of economic development，etc，the advantages and disadvantages of the three construction schemes，i. c. south，middle and north railway lines，which were proposed by the Third Railway Survey and Design Institute，are analyzed briefly and compared.
