Research on Ground Collapse Characteristics of Guangzhou and Control Countermeasures

Research purposes: Based on the research on the investigation of the geological disaster of Guangzhou and the result of the regional planing,the further analysis and discussion are made on the types,the distribution characteristics and the causes for the ground collapse of Guangzhou,and the control countermeasures are offered for the purposes of providing the basis for scientific decision - making in taking the active control measures,avoiding and cutting the life and asset losses caused by the geological disasters,keeping the social stability,protecting ecological environment safety and promoting the sustainable development of the national economy.
Research conclusions: For the last 30 years,the ground collapse of Guangzhou has been in the wave raising state with the obvious space - time distribution regulations. The human factor and heavy rain are main reasons for the ground collapse and they centrally happen in flood period from April to October. The karst collapses mainly happen in the hidden karst areas of the Huadu District,Baiyun District and Chonghua City within the Guanghua Basin. The ground collapse caused engineering mainly happens in the main city proper of Guangzhou. The underground excavation and pumping underground water can cause the ground collapses and they are proportional to the engineering volume and engineering strength. The plan as a whole,scientific site selection,adjusting structure and reasonable arrangement are the control countermeasures for the ground collapse.

Testing Study on Design Parameter of Settlement for Unsaturated Soil Foundation

Research purposes: To propose an effective test method to get suitable Settlement calculation parameter for unsaturated soil,it is very practical to high - speed rail passenger line with strict settlement demand.
Research conclusions: Based on the unsaturated silty clay and floury soil of Qingdao - Ji'nan passenger special line,carried by the consolidation test and in - situ tests,the results show that the unsaturated silty clay and floury soil’s saturation is between 46% ~ 80% ,the compression modulus of which to calculate settlement can be comprehensively obtained through the consolidation test ,cone penetration test and standard penetration test; and the calculating settlement of which can be revised according to the empirical coefficient of the Code for design of building.

Research on Engineering Geologic Investigation of Algeria East - West Highway
HAN Xin
Research purposes: For a gigantic project as Algeria East - West Highway,a tremendous amount of surveying needs to be conducted within a limited construction period. The natural factors such as hypsography, geomorphic units and formation lithology,and other external factors,for example,location of project in a foreign country,application of European standard,usage of French as working language,etc,make the engineering geological survey a rarely difficult task. A retrospective on the research of engineering geological survey of Algeria East - West Highway which has already opened to the traffic,is expected to offer beneficial references to projects that are to be realized in the similar regions.
Research conclusions: The analysis allows to reach the following conclusions: ( 1) The unfaverable geological condition is mainly consisted of landslide and karst and the specific rock and soil is mainly formed by marlite and expansive soil. ( 2) The clauses stupulating no arrangement of reconnaissance point in the European Standards need to be neatly applied by engineers. ( 3) The lateral pressure test is irreplaceable for the structural design,the hole pressure test with water level gauge must be adopted in the drilling; and the deep displacement test can offer quantitive basis for the judgement of glide plane. ( 4) The readability of survey report and professional design that are combined in the filing facilitates design examination and constuction management.

Study on Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Suction Anchor Pile

Research purposes: Suction foundation is widely used and its ultimate bearing capacity is a key technology in offshore engineering practice. It can provide technical support for the stability of deep sea structures if the ultimate bearing capacity of suction anchor can be achieved accurately. On the other hand,to study the failure mechanism of suction anchor under limit equilibrium condition,can give a theoretical foundation to research the ultimate bearing capacity of anchor further.
Research conclusions: The results shows that the displacement - loading model provided in this paper can solve the ultimate bearing capacity of suction anchor accurately under combined vertical and horizontal loading. The ratio of horizontal and vertical loading and action point of loadings can influence the ultimate bearing capacity and the stability of the suction anchor. The contents of this research can give technical supports in engineering and theoretical direction to analysis.

Study on Settlement Controlling Effects for Foundation with Piles Thrusted - expanded in Column - hammer along High Speed Railway in Collapsible Loess Region

Research purposes: Settlement controlling is a key technical problem of high - speed railway construction in collapsible loess regions. The papers rely on collapsible loess subgrade test engineering along Zhengzhou - Xi'an high speed railway,by carrying on settlement observations,large water immersion test and foundation settlement forecast, research on settlement characteristics,effects of collapsibility elimination and settlement controlling of foundation with piles thrusted - expanded in column - hammer under high - speed railway technology conditions. It can provide technical reserves in collapsible loess regions along high speed railway.
Research conclusions: The maximum treatment depth of piles thrusted - expanded in column - hammer is 20 - 30 m. The result show that,dealed with 22 m piles thrusted - expanded in column - hammer,the roadbed rarely occures settment and the collapsibility of reinforced layer also eliminates. The roadbed don' t need to preload. Thus,piles thrusted - expanded in column - hammer can obtain the expected results in settlement controlling in large thickness collapsible loess site.

Research purposes: Small - sized track maintenance machinery is the device to guarantee the good track state,and there is gap in the integral technology level between the small - sized track maintenance machinery in China and in foreign countries. Taking the YZ - Q type hydraulic rail straightener as an example,this paper illustrate how to ensure the the product 's practicability,novelty and portability on consideration of the product 's functional principle,appearance design,structure improvement and performance test for the purpose of providing the reference to the machinery design and performance test of the small - sized track maintenance machinery in China.
Research conclusions: For the great railways development,it is urgent to improve the small - sized track maintenance machinery in China. The hydraulic working principle of the rail straightener directly affects product performance,the structure design and the improvement have a direct impact on product availability and portability,the appearance design has a direct impact on product novelty,and the science of the performance test method directly affects the reliability of the product. The YZ - Q I - type rail straightener developed by reasonable design and structural improvement has the features of simple and compact structure,lightweight,safety,reliability,high speed,large load bearing capacity and convenient maintenance,and it is better than the similar products.

Application of Roof Short Prestressed Tendons in Urban Small Radius Curved Girder Bridge

Research purposes: When designing the small radius curved girder bridge,in order to save time,the long prestressed tendons are always arranged because the design time is short. But this arrangement of the prestressed tendons may cause uneven load bearing between the internal curve and external curve and waste of the engineering materials. For a prestressed concrete ramp bridge with radius of 54. 5 meters of the 5th ring road overpass at Guangqu Road in Beijing,the long tendons and short tendons + long tendons were respectively arranged,the three - dimension bar element models were established with the MIDAS / Civil for these two types of the arrangement. The discussion was made on the differences of the support reaction between the internal curve and external curve,the torsion and torsional stress,the effective prestress and the structure's economical efficiency of these arrangements in order to provide the reference to the design.
Research conclusions: From the research presented in this paper,it is known the right way to arrange prestressed tendons is the long tendons as the dominant role and the short tendons as the subsidiary role. The reasonable way to arrange prestressed tendons can effectively improve the structures 's load bearing condition,decrease the structure 's deformation,make the support reaction even between the internal curve and external curve,reduce the prestress loss and improve the structure's economical efficiency.

Safe Technology for Erecting Bridge Crossing Extra - high Voltage Power Transmission Lne in Low Altitude

Research purposes: It is dangerous and difficult to erect the bridge under condition of the 500 kV high voltage transmission line crossing highway bridge in low altitude,so it is necessary to study the technical measures for safely erecting the bridge in order to ensure the safety of the operational person,device and high voltage power facilities and make the bridge construction successfully under - passing the high voltage line.
Research conclusions: The selection of the plan for erecting bridges is made. The working condition and the strength and current of the high voltage induction field under condition of 500 kV power line crossing in low altitude are calculated and analyzed on the base of the plan for erecting the bridge with bridge girder erection machine. The harm situation of the operational person and equipments is analyzed. The protective technical measures for ensuring the safety of the person,equipments and power facilities are offered.

Calculation of Temperature Field of Main Cable of Suspension Bridge

Research purposes: To precisely calculate the temperature field of the main cable of suspension bridge under various states is crucial to erection of the suspension bridge. Therefore,on some basic assumptions,the thermal analysis model and unsteady heat conduction differential equation of the main cable are established to derive the solar heat radiation and heat convection boundary conditions. The result of the model test is used as the thermal physical parameters of the cable calculation model. In order to get the numerical solution under the specific environment conditions,the calculation method and thermal equilibrium matrix equation of the temperature field of the main cable are established.
Research conclusions: The comparison of the finite element calculation result with the actually measured result of the temperature field of the main cable of the bridge shows this calculation method is precise and reliable and it is available for calculating the temperature field of the main cable of the suspension bridge in the courses of design,construction and service.

Rock Stability Evaluation and Supporting System Optimization in Water -Rich and Complex Stratum

Research purposes: During the tunnelling in water - rich and complex stratum,the bad geology was effected by the mutual effect of water and rock,the arch and arch side were easy to lose stability of block,and the impressure of bottom was bigger than that of vertical,which cause invert cracking,side wall displacement or even lining instability,so there were great security of hidden danger for tunnelling. It’s important support for rapid and safety tunnelling to do optimization discusses on rock supporting system which based on accurately evaluation of rock stability.
Research conclusions: ( 1) The tunnel invert should be constructed to make the lining into closure condition as soon as possible during tunneling in the weak weathered granite rock section. ( 2) It is necessary for the CD method followed by invert excavation section and making the lining into a closure condition as early as possible. ( 3) Because of the possibility for the hydraulic connection between Wenxing tunnel and the reservoir,water samples should be collected in time to make a necessary chemistry and isotopic analysis to determine where the water seepage and gushing are from. ( 4) The secondary lining should be applied as soon as possible during tunneling in weak rock of the fracture zone. If necessary, a special anti water pressure composite lining design should be made. ( 5) Once the hydraulic connection between the tunnel and reservoir was confirmed and the deformation and mechanical condition of the tunnel in fault fracture zone waspoor. The cross - hole for vehicle should be kept away from the weak point,it is suitable to change forward or backward 10 meters to the weak weathered granite section.

Micro Bench Method for Tunnelling with Fine Blasting and Its Engineering Application

Research purposes: With the precise blasting technique and cantilever - assembly type multi functional mould frame,a new tunnel excavation process suitable for the tunnels with IV and V class rock has been developped to solve tunneling problems like keeping the safety step distance and ensuring the construction schedule between the excavation of the working face and subsequent processes of building inverted arch during excavation of the tunnel with weak and soft surrounding rock.
Research conclusions: Using the ,micro bench method based on the precise blasting technique and cantilever - assembly type multi functional mould frame can effectively enhance the excavation efficiency of the tunnel with weak surrounding rock,offer the bigger working space for subsequent processes,shorten the distance between the working face and the inverted arch and the secondary lining,and be beneficial to ensuring the construction safety and schedule.

Ventilation Technology for Main Portal of 1# Inclined Shaft of Qingyunshan Tunnel

Research purposes: Ventilation technology is one of the most important parts of tunnel construction and it directly affects the tunnel construction schedule and construction cost. With the rapid development of high - speed railway construction in recent years,the more and more and longer and long railway tunnels are built in China. Thus the ventilation becomes a difficult problem to be dealt with. Taking the ventilation technology for the main portal of the 1# inclined shaft of Qingyunshan Tunnel as an example,this paper introduces the forced ventilation technology used for the tunnel construction.
Research conclusions: With the development of ventilating device,the high wind pressure and large air volume ventilation machine with high tenacity and large - diameter flexible ventilating duct has been developed,so it is possible to use the forced ventilation technology for long tunnel. This method is simple,convenient and fast. By reasonable application,the construction cost can be cut,and the good construction environment and construction schedule can be ensured.

Ideas of Tunnel Structure Health Monitoring System and Its Technology Application

Research purposes: In recently years,the various structure health monitoring systems have been used in the civil engineering projects and the engineering projects,such as bridge engineering and hydraulic engineering with the rapid developments of sensor technology,data collection technology and test analysis technology. However,there is a little study on monitoring the health of the tunnel structure because of complexity and uncertainty of surrounding rock structure and the load bearing situation.
Research conclusions: From the study,the following conclusions can be obtained: ( 1) The complete tunnel structural health monitoring system ( TSHMS) should be composed of the data collection & transmission system,data analysis & processing system and structural safety evaluation & alarm system. ( 2) Through the analysis of mechanical evolution characteristics of the tunnel structure,the basic idea is presented that the long - term monitoring of the stress characteristics of the secondary lining should be especially conducted. ( 3) According to the complexity and indeterminacy characteristics of tunnel engineering,the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation means is introduced on the base of the conventional safety evaluation system. ( 4) With application of the concepts mentioned above in the super - long tunnel engineering of the Cangling highway,a preliminary TSHMS is established and the evaluation results are basically consistent with the actual situation,so this system is reliable.

Research on the AHM Model for Location Selection of Railway Passenger Station

Research purposes: In order to obtain reasonable decisions making of location selection of railway passenger station,five criterions are established of degree assorting with urban planning,connection with urban traffic,adaptability to passenger flow,coordination with existing junction and cost of construction. AHM based on attribute measure is introduced into this paper for alternative selection.
Research conclusions: ( 1) AHM is reinforced after measure of 0. 1 - 0. 9 is introduced and quantitative criterion is calculated to achieve attribute judgment matrix. ( 2 ) AHM takes on characteristic of simple operation, strong adaptability,less calculation and is very suitable for location selection of railway passenger station.

Research on Installation Process of Heptafluoropropane Automatic Fire Extinguishing System

Research purposes: The Heptafluoropropane automatic fire extinguishing system has been widely used for protection of the treasure goods,machine room and files room because of its high efficiency,reliability and no harm to the protected goods. But the construction of system is difficult,and the construction period is long with the high technical requirement. Therefore,it is very necessary to do research on its practical installation process for the purpose of ensuring the smooth construction progress and project acceptance.
Research conclusions: From the research and review of the installation processes of the pipe,device and alarm system and the system linkage test of a heptafluoropropane automatic fire extinguishing system for one office building,it is concluded the steel cylinder room is the core of the system. When installing and arranging the devices in the steel cylinder room,the operation space and the passage for test and maintenance should be reserved. The main a. c power to the main fire host,linkage cabinet and multi - functional console should be fed from the special UPS dual power supply in the fire control room.

Construction Technology for Shallow Surface Excavation Large - spanned Metro Air Duct

Research purposes: The introduction is given in this paper to the selections of the construction method andconstruction procedures as well as the key construction points for the shallow surface excavation large - span metro airduct. The informatization construction is realized by monitoring the displacement of the stratum.
Research conclusions: ( 1) The pattern of the surface settlement caused by the construction of the air duct can bedivided into five stages: zero deformation stage, micro deformation stage, aggravating deformation stage, slowdeformation stage and basically stable stage. ( 2) The impact on the surface settlement caused by the excavation support is up to 76. 6% ~ 92. 5% of the total surface settlement. ( 3) The impact on the surface settlement by the external loadon theroad can not be neglected. It is proposed that the steel plate is paved on the road surface to buffer and diffuse theexternal load.

Research on Apparent Quality Control of Fair - faced Concrete of Nanjing South Station

Research purposes: Lots of the fair - faced concrete walls,fair - faced cylinders and fair - faced roofs were used for the Nanjing South Station,and the decorative faced concrete was also used in the some areas of the station. During the construction process,there were many engineering problems because of the structural features of the Nanjing South Station and the requirements of fair - faced concrete apparent quality,so it was necessary to study the apparent quality control technology of the fair - faced concrete. As there was no domestic fair - faced concrete quality standards and quality acceptance criteria,the fair - faced concrete construction control standards and measures were formulated through summing up the common surface quality defects of fair - faced concrete,analyzing the project characteristics of the Nanjing South Station and learning the experience of past projects to ensure fair - faced concrete quality for the Nanjing South Station.
Research conclusions: ( 1 ) The in - site test of the Nanjing South Station shows formulating the apprent quality standards,the surface texture control standards and the decorative effect control standards can effectively ensure the apparent quality of the Nanjing South Station and meet the fair - faced concrete apparent quality requirements of railway station building. ( 2) The construction quality is controlled from the aspects of the survey,the concrete engineering,the reinforcing bar engineering and the moulding engineering to effectively avoid the appearance of the apparent quality defects of the fair - faced concrete.

Research on Evaluation System for Effect of Energy Saving and Environment Protection by China Railway

Research purposes: From the three angles of self - evaluation indicators of railway 's internal effect,comparative evaluation indicators of industrial effect and indirect evaluation indicators of social effect,a comprehensive evaluation system for the effect of railway's energy saving is established. By using this system,the research is done on on the effect of energy saving and environment protection by railway in China in recent years in order to comprehensively and objectively assess the important role that the China railway transportation plays in energy saving and environmental protection in the whole transportation system.
Research conclusions: The comprehensive assessment with the indicator system shows that the China railway not only achieves an obviously quantatitive effect in the energy saving and environment protection,but also achieves an initiative effect in adjusting and optimizing the energy consumption structure by changing the energy saving from quantity to quality.

Study on EIA of Railway "Twelfth Five - Year" Development Plan

Research purposes: With no referential experience,the railway " Twelfth Five - Year" development plan is the first project in China that commences environmental impact assessment. In connection with characteristic of the railway " Twelfth Five - Year" development plan,the paper puts forward exploratory environmental impact assessment methods,evaluation contents and relevant suggestions in accordance with related laws and regulations,compulsory standards,regulations and norms.
Research conclusions: From the view of environmental protection,the paper presents principle requirements for the proposed developing goal and layout of the railways " Twelfth Five - Year" development plan. It provides reference for plan’s compilation,optimization and approval decision making. Also,it provides vital safeguards for railway’s scientific development,safe development,sustainable development in the level of planning. Simultaneously,the paper proposes some suggestions in direction for follow - up implementation.
