Abstract：The current situation of railway passage along the Yangtze River and the economic and traffic structures of the regions along Yangtze River arc expounded in this paper. Based on analysis of the position and role of this passage in the economic development of the Yangtze River Basin and the great developing West China, the suggestion for constructing a railway trunk line along Yangtze River has been proposed.
