Abstract:Combined with the design of catenary in several electrified railways with lightning defects more frequently and the situations of occurred lightning defects,the overall analyses on lightning mechanism,antilightning level,etc,are put forward and the weak links for lightning protection have been obtained. Based on the frequency of lightning activity in China and taking the lightning protection theories of Power Supply Department in China and National Railways in Japan as reference,the different lightning protection measures are proposed on the boundary of average 60 lightning days per year.
