Abstract This paper expounds the applications of the ME520B Recorder in the transmission system of the optical cable digital communication. By using the Recorder which has the func- tions of testing the behavior of the error code and the jump grading, the following indexes may be obtained ： average percentage of error code in certain long period, degradation in minute (DM), error code in second (ES), serious error code in second (SES),etc. The test- ing results may be printed out also by the Recorder.
