Abstract For the sing le-end tunnelling o f the ex t ra-lo ng tunnel, the smoke sx haust and the v enti la tio n a re the impo rta nt problems. The tunnelling wi th rail transport has the adv antages o f stro ng disposal-co nveying capaci ty , small po llution, etc. The lo ng est rai lw ay tunnel in China is now in the co urse o f const ruction wi th the rai l t ranspo rt. Its hig h technical standard and the adva nced equipments, especially co ncerned w ith i ts dispa tching o peratio ns, are ex pounded in detail in thi s paper.
