Abstract During the procedure from planning economics converted into market economics in railways, the working front of equipment management must be extended- The establishment of a new mechanism and model of railway equipment management should be explored actively to promote effective uti?lization and optimum installation of equipment resources, so as to raise the utilization ratio of equip?ments ,increase the output,achieve the benefits,strengthen the market competitive ability and realize an equipment management system with overall-position，multi-layer and safety-benefit-mode. The pa?per expounds the particular contents,method and quantitative calculation of benefits for doing well the equipment management works.
