Abstract For evaluation and stability analysis of landslide,the Fellenius Method, Bishop Method and Janbu Method were usually used ,but the Sarma Method was rarely adopted. The Sarma Method is a newly developed analysis method based on limiting equilibrium. The paper introduces the basic principles of the Sarma Method, including its mechanics model, geometric model and calculating formulas,as well as its application on landslide at Laoniupo of Xi′an-Nanjing Railway.
