Abstract The Hu-Yu Railway will be a railway trunk line along the Yangtze River,beginning from the Shanghai City ,passing through Nanjing, Wuhan, and ended at Chongqing &. Chengdu regions. This railway will stretch across Shanghai City,Jiangsu Province,Anhui Province,Jiangxi Province,Sichuan Province and Chongqing City,with a total length of about 2 116 km. By analyzing the present situation of constructing a series of railway sections along the Yangtze River from Shanghai to Chongqing,the paper expounds the important political meanings and economic benefits for connectting these railways as an extra-long railway passage along the Yangtze River.
