APPROXIMATIVE FORMULAS OF CALCULATING PRIMARY FREQUENCIES FOR THREE-SPAN CONTIMUOUS GIRDER SUSPENSION BRIDGES |

Abstract Based on energy principles, the calculations of both the symmetrical and the antisymmetrical natural vertical and torsional frequencies of three-span continuous girder suspension bridges are obtained. The calculating formulas are predigested. Three three-span examples of suspension bridges are illustrated. The accuracy of the analysis is examined through comparative computation by means of the comparisons between the formulas and the finite clement approach. These approximative formulas can be used in process of the project choosing and the preliminary design.
