Abstract Research purposes: As there are more and more urban underwater tunnel being constructed, fire safety in these tunnels becomes a big issue during the design and management, and it is very important to explore how to deal with the tunnel fire. In the urban underwater tunnel,the vehicle and people flow is huge and the tunnel is U-type,so it is difficult for people to egress when a fire breaks out.
Research conclusions:Generally, there are three types of evacuation in the tunnel, which are the corridor neighbour tunnel evacuation, the special horizontally tunnel evacuation and the inner vertically evacuation. Through the comparison among these evacuation methods, it is concluded that the evacuation type and the distance between two transverse tunnels should be determined by the geological and constructional condition.
