Abstract：Research purposes： Through analyzing the railway present situation of Tangshan area, and combining with the city overall planning and the railway medium and long-term development planning, the evaluation is made on the time of building new railway lines, the comparison is made on the schemes of passenger traffic and freight traffic，and the schemes of railway layout and installment construction are presented for the purposes of instructing the railway construction and satisfying the needs of economic development of Tangshan.
Research conclusions ： The railway pattern in Tangshan area is of the three longitude lines and six latitude lines arrangement. For the local passenger traffic, it needs two stations ： Tangshan Station as the main passenger station and Tangshan North Station as auxiliary passenger station. The outward passing line should be built for freight traffic to realize the pattern of outward for freight traffic and inward for passenger traffic. The extra capacity of exiting railroad should be used to run 8 pairs of suburb passenger trains. The Tianjin - Qinhuangdao Passenger Dedicated line， the Mengdong line for coal to sea and the line in the section between Tangshan North Station and Tangshan Station of Beijing-Qinhuangdao intercity railway will be built in the near future，and later on the entire line of Beijing-Qinhuangdao intercity railway and the intercity railway from Binhai Developing Area to Caofeidian will be built.
