Abstract Abstract :Research purposes: The construction and operation of cross - sea tunnel project is difficult and risky because of the large range of sea area, the complex geological conditions, the high hydraulic pressure and corrosion. Therefore, the investigation of geological and hydrological conditions and various routing selection for different construction plans is the key factor for the reduction of investment, risk and maintenance of the cross - sea project. The principles and schemes of the routing selection for different construction plans and geological conditions are discussed in this paper. Research conclusions : (1) The implementation of geophysical survey, drilling and experimental verification contributes to the geological probe of the cross - river projection. (2) The routing plans and construction methods are determined by the analysis of geological conditions. ( 3 ) The plan combined shield and mining methods is recommended considering the poor geological conditions, period and investment of the construction. (4) The research result can provide reference for other similar cross - sea project.
