Abstract Abstract: Research purposes: Light - Lidar, a light small airborne radar, specially designed for delta wing and unmanned aerial vehicles which can fly low, take off easily and are less restricted by air traffic control, is a new scientific research achievement in recent two years. The technical levels of light - Lidar mounted on delta wing in data acquisition, data post - processing, point cloud alignment and filtering develop continually and are widely used and researched in many topics. Herein, further discussions and analysis are reported in this paper so as to accumulate experience in the new technology ’ s extension and application based on a dense vegetation railway aerial project in southern China, a mountain area.
Research conclusions:(1) Light - Lidar mounted on delta wing provides an important supplement to the traditionally airborne radar and has advantages as follows: less air traffic control, easy takeoff, high efficiency. (2) Light - Lidar has a wide scan angle range. Lasers from it can penetrate trees in any angle. Light - Lidar receives denser available point clouds which have higher relative accuracy and can meet the need of large scale topographic map and vertical and horizontal section in railway survey. (3 ) With the improvement of the hardware and data processing algorithm, this technology has great application prospects.
