Abstract Research purposes: In the paper, the instruction is given to the principle, data acquirement geometry and data processing flowchart of SAR interferometry, including elevation measurement interferometry and deformation measurement differential interferometry. The comparison is made for technology with other digital elevation model generation methods. The application potentialities of radar differential interferometry to railway geologic disaster and roadbed deformation monitoring of Qinghai-Tibet Railway in permafrost zone are analyzed.
Research conclusions: (1) SAR interferometry has some unique advantages, and is suitable for the DEM with various range, high precision and high resolution. (2) The technology has huge application potentiality for railway survey and design, railway geologic disaster and roadbed deformation monitoring of Qinghai-Tibet Railway in permafrost zone.
