Abstract The construction by shield excavation method has the advantages of rapidness, safety and less influence on buildings above ground. How to reasonably set and control soil pressure during shield excavation with balance of soil pressure is vital to control of surface settlement. This paper analyses and explores the factors and tactics for control of soil pressure as well as choice of soil pressure.
