Abstract The instantaneous Rayleigh wave method is a new and developing geotechnical in-situ test method, in which the quality of subgrade may be detected by utilizing its frequency scatter specialty and propagating speed and their relationship with the physics-mechanics properties of the subgrade soil. The principle, method and evaluation standards for detecting raising-speed subgrade by using the instantaneous Rayleigh wave method are introduced briefly in this paper. A practical engineering example is introduced briefly also.
