Abstract Landslides occurred every year in Hang Kang during, the rainy season on steep nature and man-made slopes. All the landslides are inspected and recorded by the geotechnical engineers and a Landslide Database is established based on the site data. Over the years, there are more than 6 000 landslides are recorded in the Database. This paper describes some common characteristics of landslides occurred on man-made slops in Hong Kong by reviewing the landslide records in the Database. Debris mobility and the relationship of landslides with rainfall are also discussed. A brief introduction is given to the landslides disasters and the landslide preventive measures programs (LPMP) conducted by the Hong Kong government aiming to mitigation of landslide disasters.
