Abstract We set about studying the use of the 881 wa terproof paint material in o ur roadsection since 1993. Af ter w e did o ne ex periment after anoth er in some bridges and tunnels, w e found that i t had notable resul ts in w aterproof and i t was of spreading v alue. Fi rst, thi s article int ro duces the functio n o f 881 briefly , then ex pounds i ts w aterproof effect s a nd economic resul ts, form some dif ferent aspects: repairing tunnel-leakag e and mudding of bridge support , prev enting w ater o f beam-end, sealing up slig ht crack, closing a rif t of sleeper or beam o n bridge, etc.
