This paper expresses the ideas and proposes the suggestions of the author to deal with the relationship between transport capacity and traffic volume in design based on the reliability of design traffic volume and variable factors of design transport capacity.

21 CRITICAL HYDROLOGIC CONDITION FOR OVERFLOW BURST OF MORAINE LAKE

Flood water and debris flow caused by glacial lake burst caused by glacial landslide falling into the lake is a serious mountain disaster in glacial area of (Tibet). After the experiment formula calculating threshold flow velocity of non-uniform sand was gotten, with d95 of the glacial till in the dyke can be threshold sizes, calculation formula of critical height (H0)of overflow head was guided. Then, calculation formulas of ascendant height (H1) of lake water surface and surge height (H2) on burst mouth caused by glacial landslide falling into moraine lake are guided. Therefore, critical hydrologic condition of moraine lake burst with overflow type are: the burst is inevitable as H1>H0;the burst is possible as H1

In the paper we have studied the geological-engineering characters of the imbricate fault in Hongqiling high- way-tunnel, because the imbricate fault has caused many collapses during the tunnel discharging,we have analyzed its structure character, mechanics quality, the present tectonic stress field and the pateotectonic stress field and gotten the identifical symbol of the dangerous rock mass by contrasting the mechanics parameters of the rock in the fault and that of beside fault. And finally, we advise that the best methods to control the tunnel distortion are the enhanced long and short distance geological forecast, the suitable spry-concrete and the appropriate steel trestle.

50 METHODS OF TIME SERIES DYNAMIC PREDICTION OF ROAD EMBANKMENT SETTLEMENT

The roadbed settlement, which is influenced by many complicated factors, is a dynamic and dependent process. During the filling construction of the roadbed, the total settlement value could be predicted by using time series equal in- terval prediction model of recent information. With the addition of new deformation datum, the model parameters are continuously modified. The practical settlement prediction of the abutment embankment has showed that the error between measure and one-step prediction value is mostly below 5mm, of 2.3mm average error absolute value. The more prediction step is, the more error is.

It is easy to form subgrade disease on swelled ground because swelled ground has features of swelling and softening by absorbing water, shrinking and cracking by losing water and repeated changing. After raining,embankment settles and deforms greatly, side slope occurs shoulder slipping, subgrade cracks and road cutting occurs the phenomena of corrosion by rushing, exfoliation corrosion, sliding and flowing slope on cutting slope. This paper focally describes the construction method for control of disease of expansive soil subgrade from deciding engineering parameters in combination with the construction practice of Xi'an-Nanjing Railway Line.

The principle of finite-element method is used to analyses of the underground openings of shallow embedded depth. And some numerical tests were carried out with ANSYS program. The affect of embedded depth and the surround?ing rock stress of underground openings in sidehill were analyzed respectively. The results are compared with that coming from simplified formulas. Some knowledge was achieved according to the calculated results of some examples. At the same time, it is pointed out that some problems should be considered in practice.

By the construction for to prevent the lining concrete from corrosion/seepage in the two tunnel, it has been brought to light that there are the sulfate attack to the lining concrete in the souther part of the country. By the way of -much exploring hole with small-bore + few hole with big-bore', it's quite easy to look out for headwaters of seepage in the tunnel. By the simulated test for dry environment with high speed wind in tunnel, we have got the concrete materials with excellent stability in volume. The concrete materials display good property about resistance to corrosion/ seepage in the process of construction.

Shortage of funds is the main problem in development progress of Chinese Railway. There are following seven modes of financing for supporting the leaping development of Chinese railway: the first one is funds for railway construc?tion; the second one is national debt; the third one is investment from local government and enterprise; the fourth one is market financing, including stock, bond and financing for project; the fifth one is Chinese Railway Bond; the sixth one is foreign capitals and the seventh one is loans from bank. Except funds for construction and loans from bank, the other five modes of financing will be further developed in future, especially market financing. It is essential issue for railway con?struction to save investment and reduce cost as much as possible if it wants to gain good economic benefits. To invest in main project and limit investment scale are key points for reducing railway construction cost and increasing investment benefits.

117 DECISION MODEL OF CONCESSION PERIOD FOR BOT

Previous studies have developed various techniques and methods, mainly suggesting organization structure, contracting procedures, methods of project financing and risk allocation when BOT projects are implemented. Neverthe?less, it appears that little has been undertaken in studying the way to determine the concession period in a BOT contract. Decision of concession period directly affects allocation of interests between project enterprise and host country .Too long or too short of this period would make the project enterprise or host counry have a loss. Thus, this paper develops an side-cision model of concession period for build-operate-transfer infrastructure projects, which can satisfy the interests of in?vestor and host country.

So far, these researches results have not satisfied the need of practical tunnel projects completely yet.
