SPEEDIN G UP CON STRUCTION OF RAILWAYS TO PROMOTE DEVELOOPMET OF WEST CHINA

The paper is a lectrure speech issued by Mr. Sun Yong-fu,deputy minister of the Ministry of Railways,at the“ Fornm for west in year 2000” The important role of the railways in the great developing West China has been analyzed- For development of railways in west regions of China,the new consideration, new measures, scale of railway construction in West China, its essentials and implementation steps, as well as the means for collecting investments of railway construction in West China, are proposed. The problem concerned with the-“ ecology environment protection should be taken into special attention” has been proposed particularly. This lecture speech has important guiding meanings for speeding up the construction of railways in West China and implementing the strategy of great developing West China in the futrue.

DEVELOPMENT OF RESOURCES IN NORTHWEST CHINA AND SPEED UP CONSTRUCTION OF ITS REGIONAL THROUGH RAILWAY NETWORK TRUNK LINES

The Northwest China is rich in natural resources. But due to its inner situation,the communications in Northwest China were inaccessible and its economic development was seriously delay. For example,the GDP value of Gansu and Qinghai Provinces in year 1999 were be the 11-01% and 2. 81% of GDP of the Guangdong Province respectively. For developing the great Northwest China,the construction of different foundation facilities should be enhanced at first, especially for enhancing the construction of the regional through railway network trunk lines. The investment environment should be improved,so as to be advantageous for attracting trading company and collecting investments, and to speed up the developing cause of the great Northwest China.

Based on the descriptions on present situation of social economy and railway transport in Southwest China, the particular analyses on railway traffic reqirements in Southwest China are put forward. The developing thinking concerned with the railway networks in Southwest China has been proposed also in this paper. It is aimed at to strengthen the southwest-northwest and southwest-southeast railway passages,to develop the railway networks with the surrounding international countries, as well as to improve the inner structure of the railway networks in Southwest China by constructing Dian-Zang Railway,Long-Bai Railway,E-Yi Railway,etc,as soon as possible.

EFFECT OF SEVERAL TURNOUT DISEASES TO WHEEL/RAIL INTERACTION

The kinds of diseases of the turnout zone are multifarious-By using a spatial coupling vehicle-turnout system model,the effect of diseases such as the incomplete closing of tongue rail,frog wear and interval iron losing efficacy to the wheel /rail system interaction is simulated. The results show that the incomplete closing of tongue rail will aggravate the vertical and horizontal vibration of the tongue rail,and the grave impact of the system will occur when the vehicle passes through the severe wearing frog.

Problems occurred in the structural calculation of existing railway bridge with simply supported beams,the track maintenance and the track laying of jointless rail on the bridge,etc,are discussed in this paper-The structure and design essentials of the composite rubber bearing has been introduced. Furthermore,the design feature of simply supported beam bridge with composite rubber bearings and its superiorities are illustrated with a practical example. It has been suggested that the Ministry of Railways should adopt effective measures to promote the technical achievements converting successfully into productive forces.

The paper introduces a calculating method of transverse overturning stability of beams concerning the deformation of neoprene bearings. Transverse overturning stabilities of low -depth concrete griders using neoprene bearings are calculated and compared with standard design. The results show that the transverse overturning stability of beams is lowered by the deformation of neoprene bearing.

CONSTRUCTION PRACTICE OF CIRCULAR SINGLE-WALL STEEL COFFERDAM FOR SPREAD FOUNDATION UNDER DEEP WATER

The total length of Guixi Xinjiang extra-long railw ay bridge is 798. 34 m. The width of water river is about 400 m, and the depth of water is 7. 0 to 11. 0 m. The bared bed-rock is distributed with gullying s. There are 11 piers in water, which are partly designed for spread foundation (7-piers) at deep position. The foundation bases locate 5 to 6 m beneath the bedrock. After fully compared,we selected the circular single-wall steel cofferdam and the ling tremie concrete seal at the bedrock. This construction practice is very special. The paper describes all the key working procedures, including the choice of construction practice, the design, machining,welding, assembling and sinking of the cofferdam,and also the ring tremie concrete seal at the foot corner of cofferdam and bedrock. Finally, the paper tells several key points that must be noticed in the construction procedure.

STUDY ON BASE ISOLATION ON THE SEISMIC RESPONSE OF SIMPLY-SUPPORTED BEAM BRIDGE

In this paper,a nonlinear model for time-step analysis of simply-supported beam bridges subjected to earthquake motions was developed. The focus of the study was on elastomeiic isolations with lead cores. The hysteretic behavior of isolators and the column was taken into account by tiilinear and bilinear model respectively. The nonlinear analysis showed that,contrary to linear theory prediction,the use of isolators does not necessarily increase the displacement of the superstructure. Furthermore,it was showed that properly designed isolators could reduce both the ductility demand and internal force in RC bridge columns substantially.

VALLEY MORPHOLOGY AND VALLEY SIDE STABILITY OF LIZIGOU RIVER IN NEIJIANG-KUNMING RAILWAY

The Lizigou long bridge is a dominant engineering of the Neijiang-Kunming railway, and the stability of high and steep slope of No. 11 pier in the bridge is a misgiving problem. With the observation and analysis to the morphostructure,the river valley shape and the correlative sediments of Lizigou area, it is considered that the step-spur on the back of No. 11 pier slope is a high terrace of Lizigou river,which is not a unfavorable geological accumulation form and is stable as a whole-During digging slope of the No-11 pier, the influence of engineeing activity is only on surface, and the whole stability of the slope is not shaken. Therefore, the design plan of reinforcing the slope is feasible.

Based on the practical example on blasting of certain frozen ground,the advantages and disadvantages of different methods for drilling the blast hole in frozen ground are introduced. The principles for determini ng and selecting the blasting parameters under different conditions of frozen depth are summarized-Especially,the intensive seismic response during the balsting fo forzen ground has been investigated and studied. Furthermore,on the basis of improving the blasting technique,the seismic vibration due to the blasting of frozen ground may be reduced greatly, and the efeective control of seismic vibration harms due to blasting m ay be obtai ned.

DISPOSITION OF MAIN HYDRULIC PUMP MADE IN CHINA FOR UH171 EXCAVATOR MADE IN JAPAN

Due to the high cost of the imported machinery and their machine fittings and the difficulty for their purchase, the problems on disposition of machine fittings made in China for the imported engineering machineries should be taken into special attention. The main hydrulic pump of UH171 excavator made in Japan is a pump with variable output. After operating for a few years, it is reqired to refit it by some substitute fittings, but the selection of the substitute fittings was not easy-By exploration, comparison and selection in detail, an A7V 78LVIPFH0 hydraulic pump with variable output made in Chi na had been adopted. The procedure of the selection of this kind of pump and the effect of its application are expounded in this paper.

The interacting factors between the volume of engineering and the cost of engineering are analyzed by the analysis system, and the main influence factors are obtained-Finally, the evaluation system for the cost of engineering has been established to implement the forecast of the cost of engineering for the newly-built railw ays.

In the final analysis, the market competition is a talent competition. To stabilize and to attract talents should be taken into great attention as an essential problem by the enterprises. The strategic measures and suggestions are proposed concerned with the following aspects establishing the moving management system for talents, respecting talents and giving talents excellent pay and conditions, enterprises entered and be stationed in coastal and centrical cities, etc.

THE MODE OF QUALITY CONTROL FOR RAILWAY ENGINEERING PROJECTS

The paper describes briefly the mode of quality management of engineering projects according to four stages since the founding of our People s Republic. The preceding stage was named as “ construction supervision peiiod”, and the existing problems in that period are analyzed. The present stage is named as “ synthetic control peiiocT,in which a supervision and guarantee system for construction quality will be put into effect-The contents of this system will include the self-control of the enterprise, social supervision, national control and user s evaluation. In present stage,the problems which should be taken into attention, as well as the specific division of labour for different departments,are also expounded in detail.
