PREFACE TO THE HISTORY OF CHINA RAILWAY SURVEY
Sun Yongfu
The preface to the History of China Railway Survey is written by Mr. Sun Yongfu, the deputy minister of the MOR. Based on the History of China Railway Survey, this preface gives the brilliant conclusions on the historical career and the outstanding achievements of the sur?veying works during our railway developments in the past 100 years. The meanings and the spe?cialities of editing the History of China Railway Survey are also briefly pointed out. It is very im?portant that in the preface there are five suggestions for doing well railway surveying works un?der the new circumstances of the national reformations and the railway constructions. These sug-gestions have the essential guilding significance.

STUDY ON WATER LEAKAGE AND HYDRAULIC JUMP VALUE IN TUNNEL
Zhu Dali Li Qiufeng
Hydraulic jump value existing in tunnel is a factor causing water leakage in the tunnel, The hydraulic jump value is generally bigger than the height of the tunnel, therefore the underground water cannot be lowered below the top of the tunnel. In this paper, based on the engineering examples, several methods for calculating the hydraulic jump values have been introduced.

SYNTHETIS ANALYSES ON STABILITY OF RIVER'S BANK SLOPES AND DISPOSI?TION OF BRIDGE FOUNDATIONS FOR BEIPANJIANG RAILWAY BRIDGE
Jiang Jueguang Xie Qiang Wu Guang
The methods and technique applied in this paper are practical investigation, finite element analysis, separated element simulation, foundation friction test, quantitative analysis and theoritical calculations, etc. For analyzing the characteristics of the river valley where the Beipanjiang Railway Bridge is situated, the authors propose a method of synthetic analy?ses. The synthetic analyses consist of the analysis of engineering geological conditions of the river bank slopes, the possible mode of strain failure of slope rock mass, the developing regu?larity of strian, the displacement and stress conditions of slope rock mass, the general stabili?ty of bank slopes ,the stable slope angle of bank slopes, the disposition of bridge pier founda?tions and its corresponding safety coetticients. The results of the synthetic analyses are also described in this paper.

Cai Shouzhang
The paper gives a general description on the implications of synthetic prospecting. The present situationg on the development of synthetic geological prospecting in railway sys?tem and its existing problems are preliminaryly analyzed. The following four aspects are aimed to be analyzed and the preliminary countermeasures and suggestions are proposed:the important features of synthetic prospecting and the conditions of its applications ,the optimal organizations and the procedure of prospecting, the synthetic analyses and applications of the prospecting data, and the made and system of organizations of the synthetic prospecting. They may be used as reference for developing the synthetic prospecting and for applications of symthetic analyses.

TECHNIQUE OF BLASTING EXCAVATION FOR THE CUTTING SLOPES OF ELECTRIFIED RAILWAYS
Chen Mouxin Jin Renkui
During the construction of a special railway line for the Chang-Shan Cement Plant closely nearby the Hengyang-Guangzhou Double-frack Electrified Railway, the controlled blasting technique was applied for excavating the high cutting slopes. The procedure and the technical feafures this excavating technique are introduced systematically in this paper. For proceeding the blasting excavating works under the complex blasting circumstances in which the catenary networks and the high-voltage power lines are nearby and the traffic safety may be influenced much easy, this tecnigue is very raluable for reference.

DISCUSSION ON STATION MODEL OF METRO STATIONS
SUN Jizhong
As the national economy has been gotten into the high-speed developing stage, the urban communications are too deplorable to the heavy traffic. By fully utilizing the un?derground space, the construction of metro lines is a effective method to resolve the intensive statu of the urban communications. The studies on the suitable metro station models pay an important role in passenger’s convenience and for raising the transport efficiecey.
