1 REVIEW AND PROSPECT ON CONSTRUCTION OF CHUAN-HAN RAILWAY AND XIANG-YU RAILWAY

The preparation to construct the Chuan-Han Railway and the course of construction of the Xiang-Yu Railway from the year 1965 are reviewed in this paper. After the construction of Xiang-Yu Railway had been accomplished,the existing problems are expounded and the reconstruction works had been put forward. The prospect on implementation of construction. of the Xiangyu-Chuanhan Railway in the future has been also proposed.

5 SUBURBAN RAILWAY-A NECESSARY PART TO THE BEIJING MASS TRANSIT

This article analyses the functions and the advantages of the suburban railway, and introduces the situations of two modern big cities : Paris and Beijing. In recent years,the structure of Beijing City has been changed greatly, expressed mainly on the enlargement of the scope of urban district .decreasing gradually of population in the city proper.increasing rapidly of population in the suburbs,and violent increasement of passenger traffic capacity between the city proper and the suburbs. And it is pointed out that the construction of the suburban railway in Beijing will alleviate the situation of the transportation congestion and promote the economic construction in Beijing.

8 ELEMENTARY OPINION ON CONSTRUCTION OF HU-YU EXTRA- LONG RAILWAY PASSAGE ALONG YANGTZE RIVER

The Hu-Yu Railway will be a railway trunk line along the Yangtze River,beginning from the Shanghai City ,passing through Nanjing, Wuhan, and ended at Chongqing &. Chengdu regions. This railway will stretch across Shanghai City,Jiangsu Province,Anhui Province,Jiangxi Province,Sichuan Province and Chongqing City,with a total length of about 2 116 km. By analyzing the present situation of constructing a series of railway sections along the Yangtze River from Shanghai to Chongqing,the paper expounds the important political meanings and economic benefits for connectting these railways as an extra-long railway passage along the Yangtze River.

12 EXPLORATION ON ACCURACY OF CLOSURE DURING LOCING

26 CHOICE OF CALCULATION METHOD OF LIMIT BEARING CAPACITY FOR RAILWAY BRIDGE PIER AND ABUTMENT

Two kinds of calculation methods of the limit bearing capacity of the eoncrete members and the stone-filled members were calculated and compared by the current standard design in which different shape of cross section members were considered. The results show that the method number one whose stress of the compressed region of the cross section is assumed to be distributed in a rectangular shape has a clear meaning,is in accord with the habit of design and close to the current bridge code. It reflects the rules of the changing of the code and could be recommended.

34 CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE OF STEEL STRUCTURE FOR LONGSPAN STEEL PIPE CONCRETE ARCH RAILWAY BRIDGE

It is very difficult to construct large span steel pipe concrete arch railway bridge due to its complicated structure, no mature similar experience to follow and no relative regulation to be guided by. But it is possible to well construct these types of bridges through finding out their characteristics and key procedures, and adopting completed plant and equipment,proper construction technology and sequences and testing methods as follows: (1) Fully play the advantages of manufacture technical force and advanced equipment to ensure the accuracy of steel members and welding quality. Arrange the complicated procedures to be done in factory,so as to simplify assembling and welding works at site, thus improve the arched accuracy and welding quality. (2) Control the site welding deformation. It is mainly accomplished by adopting the proper technology and construction sequences together with firm supports and necessary site facilities.(3) Welding quality is mainly ensured through adopting proper welding technology and qualified welder with post certificate.

43 ELEMENTARY TALKING ABOUT JOINTLESS TRACK ON BRIDGE

The jointless track on bridge is different from the jointless track laying on the traditional subgrade. The paper analyzes the specialities of the jointless track on bridge. According to the different span of the bridge,they are classified as two types,i.e the jointless track on the small-span and middle-span bridges and the jointless track on the long-span bridge. The paper expounds the design features of the jointless track on bridge and its existing problems. The problems which should be explored further are proposed also.

45 TALK ABOUT TUNNEL SLIDE FROM DIFFERENT ASPECTS

The understanding on tunnel slide and its treatment methods have different contents during different times. Nowadays, as the geological forecast, blasting technique, supporting measures and mechanization level have been fully developed, it may be considered that the tunnel slide over 90﹪ may be avoided and it is possible to avoid entirely. The paper expounds the different types of tunnel slide and analyzes the different reasons which influence the slide of tunnel. The countermeasures for treating the tunnel slide and the new technologies which should be put forward for preventing the tunnel slide are also proposed.

Prediction of surrounding rock permeability in tunnel is the base of estimating the water gushing yield for deep-lying tunnel. So far,these researches results have not satisfied the need of practical projects completely yet.

68 SURROUNDING ROCK BY OF I LINE OF TUNNEL IN CONSOLIDATION TECHNIQUE GROUTING DURING CONSTRUCTION CREEP STRATUM

In accordance with the deformation characteristic of surrounding rock during the construction of I line of tunnel in creep stratum, the mechanics model of surrounding rock during grouting was proposed and the numerical simulation analysis was put forward. The grouting thickness for surrounding rock and the mechanics parameters were determined,and the control of grouting for surrounding rock of tunnel in operation was thoroughly studied. A lot of practical measuring data which are proposed in this paper may be used as reference to ensure the traffic safety during construction by grouting. The comprehensive evaluation of the effects of grouting are also proposed in this paper.

73 BLOCK APPERING POSSIBILITY AND STABILITY ANALYSIS ON CONSIDERING OF THE DIMENSION OF BLOCK

In this paper,on researching of joint face distribution distances,the appearing possibility of different dimensions of block was analyzed. Many random factors were taken into account when calculating the block reliability,such as angles of joint face,binding force,friction coefficient,the rock density,etc. The analysis process has been compiled into program and can be used for analyzing the appearing and failure probability of different dimensions of block on the excavating space of stone engineering construction. The analysis result can provide scientific basis for anchoring and sparging concrete design.

For evaluation and stability analysis of landslide,the Fellenius Method, Bishop Method and Janbu Method were usually used ,but the Sarma Method was rarely adopted. The Sarma Method is a newly developed analysis method based on limiting equilibrium. The paper introduces the basic principles of the Sarma Method, including its mechanics model, geometric model and calculating formulas,as well as its application on landslide at Laoniupo of Xi′an-Nanjing Railway.

82 STUDY ON CUTTING SLOPE SURFACE EROSION OF GRANITE ELUVIUM IN THE SOUTH OF CHINA

Based on investigations and researches, firstly, this paper sums up the characteristics, of cutting slope surface erosion of granite eluvium in the south of China,including three aspects: its types,shapes,generation and development. Then,it analyses the influence features of slope surface erosion in brief. Finally,this paper researches the critical gradient of slope erosion,and obtains a result that the gradient thresholds are about 43 degree.

86 EXPLORATION ON COMPOSITE CAPACITY OF XI’AN TERMINAL

Based on the present situation of Xi′an Terminal and the analysis on its existing main problems, the key factor which influence the composite capacity of Xi′an Terminal is illustrated as follows;how to solve perfectly the problem concerned with passenger cars? As the Xi′an-Ankang Railway and the Xi′an -Nanjing Railway will be connected into Xi′an Terminal, two conceptions for raising the composite capacity of Xi’an Terminal are proposed and analyzed. And then,as the key measure for enhancing the composite capacity of Xi′an Terminal.a conclusion on constructing a new Xi'an South Station and reconstructing the Xinfeng Marshalling Station has been obtained.

The numerical characteristics and the probability distributions of over-excavating and under-excavating for different series of surrounding rocks are put forward through numerical and physical statistics and analyses.At the same time,the law of distribution of over-excavating and under-excavating at different portion on tunnel section for different series of surrounding rocks are also obtained,which may be used for controlling the quality of construction and taken as reference for researching the reliability of the tunnel Structure.

The aspect of intelligent design concerned with the smooth blasting in this expert system has been proposed as valuable reference for the follow-up engineering.

122 PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS ON DESIGN OF PILE BOX FOUNDATION FOR A HIGH MULTI STOREY BUILDING

Combined with practical engineering example of a synthetic office building for the Shanghai Minitary Police Command School, the pile box foundation was used by adding piles under the box-typed foundation to fulfill the requirements for enhancing the bearing capacity and preventing the deformation. This pile-box foundation is a box-typed .structure which consists of the bottom plate .top plate,outside wall and inside longitudinal and lateral walls ,and by which the upper loadings arc distributed to the piles. The paper proposes the analysis on the pile-box structure, as well as its calculating methods.

The slab-column structure without column-cap which is a new-type of building structure has not been used usually in engineering practice,especially rarely applied in earthquake regions. Based on the loading analyses from two aspects: the system of slab-column structure and the connection between slah and column, the paper expounds in detail the structural calculation of this kind of structure, the essentails of Its reinfocing design and the principle of design for strengthening the connecting joins. The applications of this kind of structure in earthquake region are discussed emphatically, and it has been applied in engineering practice will good technical and economic benefits.

The reform of construction enterprises in Chian had begined at the year 1984 through the establishment of the calling, bidding and contracting systems for the engineering projects and developed gradually. Based on the reform practices of railway construction enterprises in recent years, significant effects have been obtained mainly through controlling the construrction investments, developing the benefits of the investment and raising the level of the railway construction ^but there is still a big gap with the socialistic market economy. The paper analyzes the existing problems in recent times,and proposes the principles for establishing a new railway construction management system and the corresponding reform measures.
