The paper puts forward a sys ematic and complete analysis for the situation faced on the railway construction in the later stage of the“ Nine-Five” period. The cl ear requirements of railway construction in year 2000 are proposed. They are the clear essentials and directions for the science-technology research of the railway engineering works.

8 PRELIMINARY TALKING ABOUT MOUNTAIN AREA RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION IN

Due to the high difficulty in engineering works and big investment of the railway constructionin the mountain area,the demonstrations in different aspects should be put forward during setting up the construction projects. The route selection schemes should be economic and reasonable,and the main technical standards should be selected properly- During the research of the route selection schemes,the strip of land between hills should be determined reasonably,and the geological route selection should be taken into attention. Through carefully design,an economic and reasonable route may be selected so as to fulfill not only the requirements of railway transportation,but also to promote the development of the local economy.

13 EXPLORATION ON DEVELOPING TARGET FOR XI '勝XIAMEN RAILWAY PASSAGE

According to the specialities of the national economic development and the overall arrangement of its railway networks,the author proposes his consideration on constructing the Xi an-Xiamen railw ay passage. The basic direction of this railw ay passage is introduced,as well as its general situation- It is pointed out that the construction of the Xi an-Xiamen railw ay passage will complete the overall arrangement of railw ay networks in China. This railw ay passage is not only a political and national defence line,but also is a line to help the slum district in the mountain area. The construction of Xi-Xia Railw ay will become an economic developing link between inland and Southeast coastal areas,promote development of industry and agriculture along the railway, come off poor to become rich in mountain areas, provide conditions to develop industry of large and middle cities along the railway,and promote the development of tourism along this railway. The author suggests that the Xi-Xia railw ay passage may be constructed in following three steps,i. e. Ankang-Yichang at first, Pingxiang-Yong 'an secondly,and finally Shimen-Xiangtang. The construction of Xi-Xia Railway makes the structure of railway networks reasonable. The Lanxin-Lo nghai-Xixia railw ay line will become the main artery of communication between the East China and West China for economic development,promote peace and unifying the country with Taiwan Province, and create vigorous influence on economy and trade exchange between the two coast.

28 PRINCIPLE FOR RAIL GRINDING AND APPLICATION

Two types of rail grinding techniques which are widely employed abroad are comprehensively dealt with in this paper. Emphases are devoted to describe the principle,the scope,as well as benefits and defects of the preventive grinding approach(profile grinding). It s pointed out that the wear,fatigue and corrugation can effectively be controlled by porfile grinding so that the interaction of wheel and rail is improved and associated impact loads and noise are reduced,as well as the rail life is ex tended .

34 ANALYSIS OF BEARING CAPACITY OF PILES IN SOFT FOUNDATION

Under circular load,the bearing capacity of pile is obtained by stress at different positions and settlement of pile butt. In this paper,the reliability on stability against sliding of 252 railway abutments has been calcuated with improved Mont e-Carlo method. The reliability level of active standardized design has been found. By calculating, the mean value with water and without water of concrete abutment are 4. 041 and 3. 745 respectively, the variation are Q 142 and 0. 154 respectively, the mean value with water and without water of ragstone abutment are 4. 138 and 3. 883 respectively, the variation are 0. 126 and 0. 152 respectively. Through these results,the influence on reliability of main random variables has been analyzed.

55 METHOD OF IMAGES FOR DISCHARGE RATE OF THE EXTRA-LONG TUNNELS WITH SUPERTHICK OVERBURDEN

The thickness of overburden of extra-long tunnels often amounts to hundreds of meters,even goes beyond 1000 m. Here, an extra~long tunnel whose thickness exceeds 500 mis called extra~U)ng tunnel with superthick overburden. Their depth in aquifers is big and the initial discharge mainly comes from elastic yield. Moreover,the permeability of wall rock gets ofter poorer and poorer with depth. In view of the above aspects, the tunnels are formularized as the wells near boundaries, and the calculation model for maximum discharge rate is got by way of method of images. Having been simplified properly, the model tallies basically with part of the existing relative models.

Based on the analysis on the theory of numerical methods for calculating the amount of water flow ing into the tunnel, the complicated hydrology problem is dismembered and turned into some sorts of typical problem to be solved,and the computer flowsheet is drawn up. Meanwhile,according to the study on Xianrencha fault in Qinling extra~long tunnel of Xi 'an—Ankang railway, the maths model is established and the amount of water flow has been calculated. The good results are obtained compared with the real water flow volume.

Based on the free stationing of the Intelligent Total Station, the formulas for computing the measurement errors of distance between arbitrary points have been established,and its analyzing software has also been developed. It has been considered that the measurement errors of distance is related not only to the oblique distance, zenith distance and horizontal vector, but also to the space position between the Total Station and measured points- The Total Station can be used to measure deformation of tunnel, but,if deformation is smaller, especially to operation tunnel,it is also available to use convergence gauge.

77 TECHNIQUES FOR TREATMENT OF DISASTERS IN TIESHAN TUNNEL

The Tieshan Tunnel of Ba-Peng highway is Situated in Dachuan city of Sichuan province with a total length of 2 099 m at 66 northwest of the Tieshan valley- Due to several influence factors, such as the coal mining subsidence, groundwater, weak surrounding rock, etc, disasters occurred in the K14C+ 527~- + 608 section. The disasters in this section included the crack, broken bench cut and rock mass falling of the secondary lining, the bending and shearing break of the reinforcement, and the cracking and leakage of side wall nearby wate channel. These disasters endangered the safety running, the communication was interrupted, and the repairing works were put forward. The repairing methods are introduced mainly in this pa per as follows after reinforcing by grouting for the surrounding rock of the tunnel and its mini ng subsidence region, the secondary lining and its inverted arch, the pavement in serious disaster sections were demolished and the reinforced concrete structures were reconstructed again; in the other hand, the reinforced concrete casing linings were reconstructed for consolidation in general disaster sections.

In order to solve the short comings of grouting section by section in the saturated aquifer of sand stratum, such as the difficulty on formation of boied-hole, larger volume of the boring machine, easy deformation of PV C plastic grouting tube under pressure,higher cost, etc, by developing the TSS-type grouting tube with its application in the saturated aquifer of sand stratum, the technology of one-directional valve-typed small—iiameter grouting tube had been established- This technology quickened the rate of engineering progress and reduced the construction cost greatly. This pa per introduces mainly the design and the experiment of the non-return valve and the one-directional stop-grouting system of the TSS grouting tube, as well as the construction technology on the application of TSS grouting tube in the saturated aquifer of sand stratum.
